Foreign Arrivals Through Techo International Airport Drop 11% in a Year

The number of foreign visitors entering Cambodia through Techo International Airport fell 11% over the year from September 2025 to September 2026, to about 4.55 million people. The figures come from the Civil Aviation Secretariat and were relayed by the Chinese news agency Xinhua in a report published Tuesday, October 20.
Passenger flights by airlines dropped 2% between January and September, to nearly 47,000 flights. Cargo traffic moved in the opposite direction: cargo flights rose 18% over the same period, with volume reaching nearly 80,000 tonnes.
Secretary of State Sin Chantha Serivuth, the Secretariat's spokesperson, said Techo airport is served by 35 civil aviation companies, 31 foreign and 4 domestic. Their routes connect Cambodia with ASEAN member states and destinations across East, South and West Asia.
Tong Mengdavid, deputy director of the China-ASEAN Studies Center at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, blamed the decline on slow economic growth, global instability, inflationary pressure and lower disposable income after taxes. He expects the downturn to ease gradually once the economy begins to grow again in 2027.
